Administrative / biographical background:

The school opened in 1924, taking over the senior girls from Byron Street Council School see SL210, the same building being used. The school was later renamed the Central County Secondary School for Girls.

 

In 1967 Ryles Park County Secondary School for Girls was formed, the boys retaining the old Byron Street building which was later used as a primary school. In 1973 a mixed secondary school replaced the two separate establishments becoming a county high school in 1979. see SL503.
